. This Gri-gri I is composed of a piece and a ring shaped from bronze paste and then fired with a blowtorch. They are accompanied by a hand-cut brass piece, a cowrie shell, and a wild animal rib. The whole is mounted on small handmade copper rings and brass chains. The bronze paste piece is an interpretation of a Danube Gypsy talisman depicting the Ouroboros and nine stars surrounding the moon in its first quarter.

You can see the symbolism in this Gri-gri I: the moon and the cosmic Gypsy serpent representing the perpetual creation of the universe, the cowrie, an archaic currency and good luck charm, the bone evoking death and rituals of communication with animal spirits, practiced in many ancestral cultures.
